London Behind the Scenes is a series of alternative on-foot, on-film and online tours of London’s East End which uncover hidden histories and stories away from the mainstream tourist spots. The Docks and Dockers tour, focusing on the truth about trade and the changing nature of production, will take you on a journey around what was once the largest port of the most powerful empire in the world. Beginning at St Katharine Docks, the tour will follow the River Thames along Wapping High Street and end at Tobacco Dock on Wapping Lane. In this hour and a half tour, you will be transported through time from the creation of the docks to the present day, passing ivory sheds, wine vaults and the dockers' bell along the way.
