The More the Merrier & Cash Back
The celebration launch and screening of the first two films for WORLDwrite's London Behind the Scenes project will take place at: The New Vibe Lounge, 91-95 Brick Lane, London, E1 on Sunday 20th April 2008 at 6pm.
The two short documentaries, entitled The More the Merrier and Cash Back, examine immigration and remittances, and will be screened along with guest speakers, wine reception and canapés.
The More the Merrier, set in St .Katharine's Docks, lyrically interweaves historical archive with the desire of one young Indian woman to stay in the UK. With positive arguments from the Battle of Ideas immigration debate, the film presents a uniquely pro-immigration view and timely case for complete freedom of movement.
Cash Back, set in Brick Lane, highlights the scope of remittances - monies sent by migrants and diasporas to friends and families overseas. These outstrip aid and foreign direct investment and don't have the strings attached.
